On Sunday I took part in the local Larkhall Christmas Craft Fair, I haven't done as many fairs this year as I've been concentration on my notonthehighstreet shop. After I have agreed to take a stall I kind of regretted it as last year I did three Christmas craft fairs had barley cover my tables costs, Sunday however turned out to be a winner! The fair opening at 10.30 and ran till 3.30, we had a busy stream of customers right from the off set, people where still buying as we where trying to pack up!
I always like doing the Larkhall fairs as they are held in The New Oriel hall which is one of the nicest village halls I've ever seen, it's extremely well used by the local community and has been done out really nicely inside.
We sold so much stock, some of which I had left over from last christmas!
We totally sold out of the Sun Hare & Moon Hare prints and bags which I was chuffed about. This is a new design and I wanted to test run before it goes live on my shop. Hopefully it will prove as popular on-line!
A big thanks to my Mum who came and kept me company (she does good sales patter too!). I shall definitely sign up for this fair again next year! Although I am glad I only decided to do one fair as I've been snowed under with on-line orders!
I think I might ditch 'Studio Friday' as I inevitably end up doing on the weekend or whenever I remember! I think 'Studio Update' is slightly less pressure at the moment!
So mostly it been lots more orders from the shop which is fantastic, a big thank you to anyone who brought one of my creations! I have got a craft show next weekend so I have been making an effort inbetween orders to get some stuff ready for that.
New prints and bags of Sun Hare & Moon Hare which I hope people like. I will get these up in my shop at some point, possible not till the new year as I have so much to do at the moment. Not just printing and drawing, boring stuff too...
...self motivation is important when you work for yourself.
Ok my excuse is I was working all Friday and Saturday and didn't have time...ok?! Anyway another week of filling shop orders, am blown away by how many I'm getting at the mo! My desk constantly looks like this...
In fact Rich and I have some much on at the mo that the whole studio looks a mess pretty much all the time...
The supposed studio assistant just isn't pull her weight!
In our moments between jobs we dream about the garden studio we are hoping to build, at this rate its never going get get off the drawing board! A job I did manage to get done this week was making a start on my christmas cards, I really only buy cards if I absolutely run out of time, if at all possible I make my own (what else would you expect from a designer!).
Why have I never done lino print cards before?! Its brilliant, I made 20 cards in about 15 mins! So sorry this is a spoiler for all my friends as you will be getting these this year!
Right, must get back to the paid work! x
